(Photo Gallery) Ghost9 shines through the night in Washington, D.C on their “The New Midnight” tour in the United States
Ghost9 is K-pop group based in South Korea with 7 members. Featuring Shin, Junhyung, Kangsung, Junseong, Prince, Woojin, and Jinwoo. They recently began their 11 city tour across the United States and Europe called “The New Midnight” tour. The group brought their bright energy to the stage during their show in Washington, D.C on February 25th at Union Stage.
Ghost9 started the show with their energetic songs “Think of Dawn” and “Reborn”. The group’s energy when they emerged onto the stage was confident and powerful. Their strong, hip-hop dancing and steady vocals is what makes them a unique group that everyone will be excited to see perform. “Think of Dawn” has a part in the choreography where one of the vocalist of the group, Prince was raised to the ceiling by the members. It is really impressive that they did these intense dance moves in front of a crowd, while maintaining steady vocals. “Reborn” is a song with electronic dance music elements and theatrics in the vocals. “Reborn” has a cyber and science fiction movie like quality to it. This cyber aesthetic was reflected in their quick and sharp dance movements during their performance in Washington, D.C. The chorus of the song is sung by Kangsung and Junseong and it is sung with a very cool cyber and robotic effect the members do with their voice. When the two members sung it live at D.C show and it sounded just like the actual song.
There were a lot of fun and sweet fan interactions during the show with the crowd in D.C. On the stage, was a board full of colorful post-it notes with questions that the fans wanted to ask of the members. Ghost9 cheerfully answered a good amount of questions while dancing, sharing which video games they play and they even talked playfully and happily with the crowd of Ghosties. (the affectionate name of Ghost9 fans)
Two of the members had their own solo performances. It was fun to see individual members represent why they shine within the group. The ghosties enjoyed singing along with Junseong , one of the vocalist. As he happily sung a cover of “Sugar” by Maroon 5. The leader of Ghost9, Junhyung sung his own original R&B song, “How We Do” which had the crowd enamored.
Ghost9 came back for an encore performance with two beautiful songs, “Down For You” and “Cosmos”. It was so lovely how they sung these soft and pretty songs while sweetly singing to their fans. As the members happily sung these lyrics to the crowd, The Ghosties sung back to the members with the same sweet energy. During this encore performance and throughout the show, Ghost9 showed D.C their bright energy the can be both fiery and passionate like their choreography or a warm and bright embrace like the soft melodies and harmonies they sing. I hope you can see Ghost9 live one day soon as their light shines brightly through the dark and warms hearts.
