(Song Review) Jiwoo releases a new single and music video for Afterimage

South Korean-Canadian Singer, Jiwoo dropped his new song, Afterimage on April 19th 2024. He's signed to the record label, WAVY. He also dropped a music video that accompanies the aesthetic of his new song.

Afterimage is a smooth R&b song with a calm yet mysterious vibe. Jiwoo layered his vocals in a way that's reminiscent of timeless 90s and 2000s R&B songs. The lyrics and atmosphere of the song are sensual, confident and mysterious. The music video is sleek yet mysterious. There are clips of Jiwoo wearing all black and clips of him in a grey electronic, blurry after image.

Aftertimage:  An afterimage is an image that continues to appear in the eyes after a period of exposure to the original image.

In the context of this song, the subject of desire will never know how she feels about him until he has left. Once he is gone, his afterimage will appear. She will then realize that she wants him however it will already be too late.

This part of Afterimage describes someone who thinks her lover is on the other side of the room but its simply just his Afterimage.

She wasted his time and love, and now he is not in her reality; just the mere thought of him remains, his afterimage.
